Ci Siamo

Really enjoyed the food and service here. The service was exceptional and loved our waiter. I appreciated his recs as well. The food was tasty as well. Everything felt very fresh. I would pass on the salad and lemon tart. The skillet focaccia was exceptional and is a must get. Both pastas were good so I imagine any pasta here would taste fresh and simple. Pretty expensive but good for a special occasion.

It was a dream to have a bite of the celebrated Caramelized Onion Torta at Ci Siamo. My wish came true when friends took me there for my two week birthday celebrations. Located in the Manhattan Plaza behind the main postal service building near Penn Station, it can be difficult to find. Once there, the view is spectacular inside the restaurant with the twinkling lights and breathtaking view of the Empire State Building lit up in the night sky. Ci Siamo is a fine restaurant that opened three years ago. We ordered three appetizers not realizing that the portions were fairly large. Escarole with walnuts and goat cheese, Sunchokes with lemon, chili and a yogurt sauce and the Caramelized Onion Torta. The escarole salad was covered completely with the cheese and was addictive. Rajender cut the Torta and the creamy sauce spilled out languidly signaling joy in every spoonful. I found the sunchokes to be unusual but my two friends polished it off. Our main courses were a pasta, roast chicken and skillet steak. Nain ate her Tagiatelli with Tomato and Buffalo Butter washed down with a glass of la collina vino rosso but Rajender and I had our barely eaten main courses parceled as we were stuffed. Rajender also drank wine. I drank water. A slice of the Lemon Torta with three spoons and three Rainbow Cookies rounded out this splendid dinner. Two coffees were also drunk. Fiona, the efficient server, gave me three more cookies to take home. While the service is excellent being a Danny Meyer restaurant, one is never hurried out so by the time we wrapped up three hours had passed.

Ci Siamo is a gem with an incredible view--you can see the Empire State Building while enjoying your meal, which makes you feel just a little fancier than you actually are. The food? Absolutely delicious. The portions? Let's just say if you come starving, you might want to order like you're feeding a small army. Prices are reasonable, so you won't have to sell a kidney to enjoy a great meal. But the real star here is the service--top-notch, attentive, and somehow always a step ahead of what you need. If you're looking for great Italian food with a killer view and don't mind ordering a few extra plates, Ci Siamo is the spot!

Gem in Hudson Yards! I was a bit worried about being able to be seated as walk-ins but we had no issues. It was pretty packed, so I do recommend a res if you can swing one. The caramelized onion torta was decadent and quite tasty. We ordered 3 pastas and all were bangers. The stracci with rabbit was stick-to-your-ribs, the rigatoni with guanciale was very rich, and the crab cavatelli had a nice umami from the seafood. I'll be back for sure!
